Last sunset in Mount Evelyn (Vic) |
Two long days of driving
(483km respectively 792km) brought me up from Mount Evelyn, via Wagga
Wagga and Dubbo to Port Stephens.
The days are very short at
the moment with sun rising around 7am and sunset around 5pm. For the
9 hour drive I got up at 5.30am to get on the way to complete the
long journey before sunset, and I only just made it.
I passed through many
different regions in the last two days, from the hilly Yarra, through
rural countryside in Victoria, into New South Wales. There were some
historic old towns and villages on the way, with buildings from the
late 1800s. Was passing through where Ned Kelly, famous bush ranger and convicted criminal, made his last stand,
cutting through the Great Dividing Range and cruising through the
Hunter Valley – which changes from a lovely countryside to a
country scarred with mines, dump sites, coal fired power plants and
power lines. Quite a change from being very scenic natural
environment to clearly seeing mankind's touch on it.
